The BBC has confirmed that all its existing services will be moved to Astra 2E and Astra 2F in the second half of 2013.
This action has been in the pipeline for some time but now the cat is out of the bag as ‘Auntie’ has spoken.
The signal will be slightly stronger in the UK but weaker in mainland Europe. So for Expats in Italy this could well make receiving BBC channels, via Freeview or Freesat, a lot more difficult.
Apparently the move of BBC services will have no impact on UK households. However, as the BBC Blog says: “The overspill of the BBC’s services will be reduced meaning that viewers outside the UK will find it even harder to receive them. I know that this causes unhappiness to some of you living outside the UK. However, it is entirely appropriate because the BBC domestic services are for people living in the UK only.”
